32nd
Annual Butterfly Concert
"Dancing
Down Memory Lane"
The butterflies are coming back to the highway in Placerville to remind
everyone of the 32nd Annual Butterfly Concert -- this year to be on Saturday
afternoon and evening September 18th.
The Butterfly Concert will again feature the Sierra Symphony, conducted by
Roy Fulmer, in a pops concert at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds.
"This year's theme, Dancing Down Memory Lane, will bring back
many familiar tunes and have people dancing on the lawn," said Linda
Hopkins, concert coordinator. "Professional dancers on stage will
demonstrate dances from a rumba and a tango to a polka and a hoedown and much in
between."
The gates to the lawn will open at 3:00 p.m. for people to bring their
picnics and listen to a barber shop quartet or songs by Peggy Ann from the Apple
Tree Stage. Wm Florian, former lead singer with the New Christy Minstrels,
will sing and play his guitar to open the entertainment from the main
stage. After the symphony pops concert, starting at 5:30 p.m., audience
members can dance to country music tunes offered by Carole Perusse and "The
Country Showmen."
Tickets are only $15 in advance or $18 at the gate on Saturday, September 18,
2010. Students 12 and under are $8. For more information, call
530-642-2431 and leave a message. Watch the website for more information
